The bookies’ favourites
There are some stupendously strong favourites in some of the main markets for Oscars 2020 betting. At this stage of the game, there are few betting options in the big categories that are going to have much appeal.
The main bookies’ favourites are 1917 in the Best Picture category, Joaquin Phoenix to win the Best Actor and Renee Zellweger to win Best Actress. Those three markets look to all well be in the bag. So punters are going to have to start digging a little deeper for some Oscars 2020 betting value.
Best Actor
Joaquin Phoenix has already earned a win at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA for his role as the leading character in the Joker. It’s unlikely that he is going to be shunned at the 2020 Oscars. This looks as big of a foregone conclusion as there could be.
Joaquin Phoenix 1/50
Adam Driver 10/1
Leonardo DiCaprio 25/1
Antonio Banderas 50/1
Jonathan Pryce 50/1

Best Actress
There is a similar story in the Best Actress category at the 2020 Oscars. Like Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger is on a hattrick having won at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs as well. Her nominations have been for her portrayal of Judy Garland in the movie Judy.
Renee Zellweger 1/25
Scarlett Johannson 8/1
Charlize Theron 14/1
Cynthia Erivo 25/1
Saoirse Ronan 33/1

Best Picture
The Best Picture market in Oscars 2020 betting, is at least a bit more competitive. It is Sam Mendes’s 1917 that is heading up the market currently. It won the Best Picture award at the Golden Globes and it took the Best Film and Outstanding British Film awards at the BAFTAs as well.
Mystery/thriller/drama Parasite in any other year would probably be running away with this category. It could be the first-ever non-English language winner in this category if it comes up trumps.
The movie has reached a 99% rating at Rotten Tomatoes and it won the Best Film Not In The English Language at the BAFTAs recently.
Bong Joon-ho’s movie has generally settled down to around a 3/1 general market price, after having been out around the 6/1 mark in mid-December.
1917 2/5
Parasite 3/1
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood 8/1
Joker 11/1
Bar 80/1

Best Animated Feature Film
This is actually a super-competitive market because there is a genuine two-horse race going on. Normally you would think in any year that a Toy Story movie is released then it is going to be a clear favourite.
Toy Story 4 was ticking along as such, but there is big pressure from Klaus. The Netflix movie is right there level at even money alongside it. That’s pretty remarkable considering that it was only released on November 8th. Klaus took the title of Best Animated Film at the recent BAFTAs.

Klaus Even Money
Missing LInk 11/1
I Lost My Body 33/1
How To Train Your Dragon The Hidden World 100/1

Best Adapted Screenplay
There are two big contenders here. Little Women will appeal to punters a lot in Oscars 2020 betting to come away with the award. At the 15/8 mark, it is not the favourite in the Best Adapted Screenplay market, however* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 7th, 2020 at 17:42).
The movie, based on the famous Louisa May Alcott novel, has fantastic ratings on movies databases website IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
It is up against Jojo Rabbit adapted from Christine Leunen’s book called Caging Skies. Like Little Women, it has been widely received and highly ranked. It is a comedy/drama about a young Hitler Youth member who discovered that a Jewish girl is being hidden by his mother got an award at the BAFTAs for filmmaker Taiki Waititi.
JoJo Rabbit 2/5
Little Women 15/8
The Irishman 15/2
Joker 40/1
The Two Popes 66/1

Best Original Screenplay
This is realistically where Parasite is going to come up trumps. It is the market leader and odds-on as well there for Sunday’s Oscar’s 2020 betting. The drama about a poor family trying to get hired by a wealthy one, is nominated for six Oscars overall this year. In this category, it is going up against Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The latter has earned a lot of plaudits but it has come up short in awards ceremonies this year and it is likely to continue. Quentin Tarantino’s movie, which has a settler ensemble of a cast, did get the Best Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy at the Golden Globes as well as the Best Screenplay away for Tarantino.
Parasite 4/9
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 13/8
Marriage STory 12/1
Knives Out 40/1
1917 50/1

Best Supporting Actress
This is one of those markets in Oscars 2020 betting that punters are not going to have much interest in now. There is an overwhelming favourite here and that is Laura Dern for her performance in Marriage Story. The recent awards ceremonies to lay back this up. She won the Golden Globe and the BAFTA equivalent.
Oscars 2020 Betting Odds Predictions
Laura Dern 1/25
Margot Robbie 10/1
Florence Pugh 16/1
Scarlett Johansson 33/1
Kathy Bates 66/1

Best Supporting Actor
Another of the main markets that has had a lid put in on it. Brad Pitt has already been awarded for the Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There has been a ton of accolades that Pitt has taken for this role and he just isn’t going to be touched (probably). This is a market which actually has a stellar collection in it.
Brad Pitt 1/50
Joe Pesci 11/1
Al Pacino 25/1
Tom Hanks 28/1
Anthony Hopkins 50/1
Best Director
Oscars 2020 Betting Odds Ncaa Basketball
Sam Mendes for 1917 is the front runner in the Oscars 2020 Best Director market and going into Sunday’s ceremony at odds-on, it’s likely that he will walk away with the accolade. Back when the nominations were announced he was almost around even money. There’s no chance of getting anything like that now of course. The only hint of an upset here could be from Parasite’s Bong Joon Ho.
Sam Mendes 1/6
Bong Joon Ho 11/4
Quentin Tarantino 20/1
Martin Scorsese 66/1
Todd Phillips 100/1
