TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 4 BETTING PREVIEW

After the brutal hills on Monday, Tuesday brings some relief. Nothing could really prevent a royal bunched sprint on the 1.5-km final straight in Nancy. The second and last hill, Côte de Maron, is crested just 16 kilometres from the finish, but the sprint teams won’t let the chance slip away. As a result, ace leader Julian Alaphilippe should have no trouble defending the yellow jersey.
This sprint in Nancy is much more straightforward compared to Stage 1 in Brussels, so it is perfectly suited for the pure sprinters with a powerful leadout.

Tour De France Stage 4 OddsElia Viviani and Caleb Ewan both have strong team-mates, so we expect to see Deceuninck–Quick Step and Lotto–Soudal protecting them at the end of the race. The Australian looks to be the in-form sprinter between the two but the Itlaian will surely be in the mix.
Peter Sagan will profit from their leadout and has already proved to be almost at his top level with a 2nd place on Stage 1.
Dylan Groenewegen is the sprinter to beat on paper, but he crashed on the opening stage and his condition could be far from 100%. His team-mate Mike Teunissen took the yellow jersey in the first sprint and could be the suprise package once agian. Will he lead Groenewegen or be the dark horse?
Matteo Trentin won a similar Tour de France stage from Reims to Nancy in 2014 and should not be overlooked.
Other dark horses could be Sonny Colbrelli, Giacomo Nizzolo, Cristophe Laporte, Andrea Pasqualon and Wout Van Aert, but the latter is likely to be used as Groenewegen's last man.
Andre Greipel, Alexander Kristoff and Michael Matthews are good for a top 3 placement at maximum while Greg Van Avermaet should save his legs for tomorrow's stage.

TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 4 BETTING PREVIEW

Lead-inIt’s rare for the Tour de France to have a significant summit finish so early in the race, but the fourth stage already provides the race's first mountain-top finish.
The route sets off from Sisteron and takes in four categorised climbs before culminating on the Orcieres-Merlette summit, after 160 kilometers across five categorized climbs.
The final climb to Orcières-Merlette is a 7.1 kilometres ascent that goes up at 6.7%, not a punishing one but the stage does have almost 3,000 meters of ascent.
On paper the day is perfect for a successful breakaway but we also expect action from GC contenders - even if there will not bet big gaps between them. With the intermediate sprint coming early in the stage, it is likely the breakaway will form later.

Our Stage 4 Favorites

Should there be the appetite within the peloton to close the breakaway down, then Julian Alaphilippe and Adam Yates look the men to beat. The Frenchman will be extra motivated because of the yellow jersey he is wearing while the Aussie looked superb when he easily latched on to the breakaway on Sunday.
Tadej Pogacar,Romain Bardet, Philippe Gilbert and Thibaut Pinot could be also in contention for the stage win, should any breakaway fail to reach the finish line, while Primoz Roglic's form is still questionable as he is still dealing with a pre-race injury.
Alejandro Valverde and Tom Dumoulin looked far from their best form while Richard Carapaz is a big question mark.
Mikel Landa, Miguel Angel Lopez, Egan Bernal and Nairo Quintana usually prefer steeper climbs while Marc Hirschi, Bauke Mollema and Maximilian Schachmann confirmed they are in good shape.
Astana’s Alexey Lutsenko, EF Pro Cycling’s Sergio Higuita, and Movistar’s Enric Mas all deserve a mention.
